Ask Gia: Q & A with your Favorite Skincare Expert
Question: Can you get sunspots from using a sauna? I noticed some darkening and wrinkling of the skin at my temples that wasn't there prior to using one recently. If so, will using sunblock help?

Answer:
Dear J.P. -
Yes, heat alone can cause sun damage in pre-disposed skin. Using a product with Tyrosinase Inhibitor to supress overactive melanin could help, as well as Anti-oxidants and Grapeseed Oil to help build a stronger shield and make the skin stronger and less sensitive to triggering overactive melanin production in the future. Sunblock is good when protecting from the sun, but won't help so much when just heat is a trigger.
